A search is provided which you can use to display fragmented files that are larger or smaller than a selected value in Megabytes, or that match a pattern that you add to the search parameters.ĭefraggler all in all is a useful file and drive defragmentation tool. While it does not suggest a course of action based on that, it is certainly suggested to defragment a hard drive if the fragmentation status is high enough.ĭefraggler warns if the drive is a Solid State Drive which usually should not be defragmented as it may reduce the life time of the drive due to the write operations needed to complete the process. While you can click on the defrag button right away to run a regular or quick defrag on selected drives, it may make sense to first click on the analyze button to assess the fragmentation status. Each drive is listed with its name, drive letter, file system, capacity and whether it is an SSD or platter-based drive. When you first start Defraggler you are presented with a list of drives connected to the system. As far as I can tell it is not faster or slower than any of the other defragmentation tools out there but as I said, the new feature makes it stick out from the rest. This is of course considerably faster than defragmenting the whole hard drive and useful if you want to work with a certain application. This can be useful if you need a speed boost for a specific application if the application or data folder is highly fragmented and you do not have the time to defrag the whole drive. Defraggler allows you to just defrag a folder or file instead of defragmenting the complete drive. While it is nice to know, it would not make much sense if the software would not take advantage of this feature.
It is for instance possible to get a visual analysis of the fragmentation level of a folder or file.
